Just when you didn't think the Toyota Yaris model could get any better, once again we have been proven wrong. That's right readers, Toyota recently unveiled its Yaris Hybrid-R Concept and we couldn't be more excited to bring all of you in the Reno, NV area all of the exciting details.
The compact hatchback we have all come to know and love was given a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that can generate 300 horsepower. This is coupled with an electric motor that powers the rear wheels, supplying each of them with about 60 horsepower. While this setup is quite different than the typical Hybrid Synergy Drive system that Toyota uses with its Prius lineup, we have a feeling it will offer an efficient performance like we have never seen before.
In addition, the Yaris hybrid was given upgraded wheels, brakes and a suspension system. Aside from its hybrid performance, we'd have to say its exterior accents are our favorite additions. The aggressively styled front fascia features a bold grill that is black with navy blue accents. We just can't seem to take our eyes off of it!
While it seems uncertain at this point whether or not the new hybrid will make it to production, it certainly has earned itself a lot of attention. Auto enthusiasts at Car & Driver were so impressed with what they saw, that they went as far to say "Hybrid-R you kidding me?" When more details develop in the future, we will be sure to keep you updated right here on our Toyota blog.
In the meantime, feel free to visit Reno Toyota Scion to check out what we currently have to offer for energy efficient models. We'd be happy to arrange test drives with the vehicle that catches your eye and answer any questions that you may have!
